It poured all day yesterday, so I pulled out my new rainboots for walking to and from work. Aren't they adorable?


Bonus: They were $12 at Aldo. TWELVE DOLLARS, y'all! It was a great find, and they'll serve me well when we move to Costa Rica in January.


I decided to keep everything nice and monochromatic with a pop of green. I really love wearing black, and I know I shouldn't admit that, but I do. There's something so chic and edgy about an all black outfit in my mind. You know what else is chic and edgy? Synchronized posing with Kiku. She's wearing a coat because it's cold and she'd just been outside - we usually take it off her once she's in. This is the only article of clothing she owns.


Also, I just realized how insanely sheer this sweater is. Which is fine, because I wear camis underneath it, but it's clear that my cami is green in this picture. Stinkin' flash.

I knew when I got this AMAZING necklace in the mail yesterday that I wanted to wear it with this black turtleneck. And as long as I was going to wear this much bling, I might as well go with all black.


This outfit actually came together pretty easily, which is huge because none of my outfits have been coming together easily lately. I got these tights a few months ago for $2 at Target and was a bit concerned because, honestly, they're wild and I thought they were a touch too sexy for my everyday life. But they were the first pair of tights I pulled out of my trusty tights storage (read: Target bag full of tights) and I just went with them.


I like to think that I toned down the sexy by covering up most of my leg with a skirt and knee high boots. And P.S, y'all, these boots will NOT be making the cut when I pare down my closet yet again come January. The toes are super worn and so are the heels. I can't bring myself to get them resoled because I only spent $60 on them (yay for super clearance at the Nine West Outlet store!) but if anyone else out there is willing to resole them and wants my size six boots, you're welcome to take them off my hands.


Can we just discuss for a moment how crazy fabulous this necklace is? It's the kind of thing I've always wanted to try, but was too scared to buy, and now it's in my hands and I LOVE IT. It's a whole lot of bling, but I can't even tell you how sassy and stylish I felt all day with it on. Even B. approved.

I'd like to start out by thanking Target for supplying most of this outfit.... Does anyone else out there have this issue? Like, you put on an outfit and realize, whoops, I got this all from the same store. In my case, that store is generally Target. Not even kidding, when I lived in VA, I was there at least once a week, usually more often.


I think I can safely call that a habit. I'm not allowed to go there very often these days because it is nothing but TEMPTATION, that Target, and I am moving and CANNOT BUY UNNECESSARY CLOTHES. But I did get this tee the other day because B. liked it. But other than that, I'm DONE, Target.


On the plus side, look at how twirly this skirt is! Also, I was pretty proud of the way I was able to take a summer staple and make it work for fall. Remember the time I couldn't figure out how to wear this skirt? Yeah, me neither.


Oh, and y'all? I got home from the gym today and found a package from Canada sitting on my doorstep. It was the necklace I won from the sweet, sweet ML from Twenty York Street. Ooh, I was so excited! Plus, now I know exactly what I'm going to wear tomorrow. Which is good, because I've been in a bit of a funk lately when it comes to getting dressed.

Y'all, I had the HARDEST time getting ready for volunteering today. The sun was shining and I was convinced it would be a beautiful day. So I went downstairs to let Kiku out into the blissful sunshine and felt the cold come sweeping into the kitchen.


Cold calls for tights. And because I refused - REFUSED! - to put this dress back in the closet, I dug up my warmest grey tights and pretended that they worked well with the patent pumps that I wanted to wear.


And this cardigan was too long and too narrow to flow prettily over the full skirt of this dress, so I tied it up. I'm not sure that I love the look, since I think it makes me look bustier than I am, but it is what it is.


Anyway, it's the first of November, y'all. You know what that means? Several things:
1. There's a month and a half until we leave Philly. (And about three weeks after that, we'll be Costa Rica bound.)

2. It's the first day of NaNoWriMo. Any other participants out there? I've gotten 1680 words down so far today; we'll see if I can keep it up.
