October Challenge: Blogging for Breast Cancer aWEARness
Shoes and earrings remixed
Sweater: Ann Taylor
Jeans: Ann Taylor
Flats: Target
Earrings: No idea - either a gift from my uncle or from Avon - I had two VERY similar pairs and now these are the only ones left.
I'm participating in Blogging for Breast Cancer aWEARness (BBCA) this month, sponsored by Melissa of A Working Mom's Closet. This is a BIG challenge for me because I own about seven articles of pink clothing and a pink pair of pumps. I'm definitely down for a week, and I'm hoping I can get creative enough to do a month's work of pink - even if that means (gasp!) painting my fingernails. I never paint my fingernails, by the way. It's really distracting to me.
I know, as you're looking at this outfit, you're wondering where my pink is. Like, maybe I got confused and decided that my red-violet shoes are pink. And yes, I do often confuse red-violet and fuchsia with pink, but that is not the pink in this particular outfit.
THERE'S the pink: in my earrings. Ignore the fact that I look tired and like I need to get my eyebrows done. There's pink in the earrings. Can you see it?
Now can you see it? Yes. I started out BBCA by pulling out the accessories; I'm lame. I have to confess, though, that pink is one of those colors that scare me - just like lots of red by my face. I guess it's that most of my pink items are BRIGHT PINK because I look better in that shade and it's so bright I can't hide in it. So I'm easing into pink.
Baby steps.
Now, for today's outfit:
All remixed except boots and tunic
Jacket: Banana Republic
Tank: Target (layered under the tunic)
Tunic: H&M (old)
Leggings: H&M
Belt: came with a blazer from Kohl's
Boots: Noble Town Vintage
Earrings: gift from sister-in-law
Pin: ??? I've had it since high school
I actually really like this outfit. It is not super creative, but it is really comfortable and easy. I do have to say that this tunic actually has these weirdo ties on the sides and an empire waist, though, and I don't find either to be particularly flattering, so I cover them up with a belt. How's that for working with what you've got?
Whoops, you can actually see one of the ties poking out in this picture, but I think it's okay. And can I just say that I love this jacket's Peter Pan collar? I'm pretty certain I've said that before, but I feel like I have to say it again. More denim jackets should have Peter Pan collars.
Here you can see my pink for the day: My little butterfly pin that I've had since I was about sixteen. I won't lie - I've had it twelve years. Whoa. I rediscovered it as I was going through my accessories yesterday in search for all my pink items. I like the fancy, frilly vibe of the pin with the menswear inspired tunic and the sleek lines of the whole outfit.

I love it!!! Accessories are perfect for this. I probably only own about seven articles of pink too, but I'm going to try to hit the Salvation Army store to see if I can at least find a pink belt. I don't own pink pumps, that's something I need!
ReplyDeleteI love the little pops of pink you added! And I think those flats totally count. :)
Lol you are so tackling this in the same way I would. Pink accessories! I don't really do pink either.
