All remixed
Dress: Target
Earrings: Target
Necklace worn as bracelet: "borrowed" from my mom
Pumps: Steve Madden

So, after talking about sprinkling in the pink for BBCA, I've suddenly been able to incorporate all kinds of pink accessories into my outfits. Today's was totally an accident, though - there are pink pearls in my necklace/bracelet. I may not have a cute pink belt like Melissa's, but I think this works. I dressed up a bit because I had to help out at a luncheon for the organization with which I'm volunteering. One of my former students was there, as well as a few of my former coworkers, and it was nice to see them.

Seeing everyone meant that I had to talk a bit more about my plans for moving to Costa Rica. And I talked about it a lot. I explained a bit about what we'll be doing, told them about our date of departure (11 Jan., in case you were wondering), and basically share about what we've been doing in preparation. And that made the move even more real.

Y'all: We're moving to Costa Rica. We're moving. To Costa Rica. I mean, I got home today to an email about housing options while we're down there. Between that, and the travel confirmation in my inbox, things are becoming really real. I got a little no sé que as I was reading that email; I didn't know if I should be nervous, excited, anxious, happy, scared, or relieved. I'm feeling a bit of all of those emotions.

This girl, who loves dresses, heels, and earrings is moving to the rainforest. I mean, I curled my hair last night, put on make up this morning, and got all dolled up for today's event and came home to the realization that there won't be many occasions for dresses and pumps for the next three years. Am I worried about what my life will be like in rural Costa Rica? Yes. Am I worried that I'll be teased for my "city girl style"? Oh, yes. Am I worried about how that life will affect this blog? Also, yes.
But we'll figure it out, yes?

Yes.

  5. We'll still be here to read all about your adventures in Costa Rica, even if you can't wear your pumps and dresses as much. Or not at all.

You really do look fantastic in this dress, I love how you sprinkled the pink in!

  6. Oh, its normal to get the jitters!
You are moving your entire life to another country.
CR is my neighbor country, have been there at least 10 times and they seem to always be the same. San Jose has remained stagnant for years.
They have nice weather and I really like how their government is standing up against mining and trying to protect their natural resources.

  9. Thanks so much for the encouragement y'all! I promise that I'm mostly excited about the move, but it is a big one and that's so crazy to me. I guess I've still got three months to figure things out, and it'll all fall into place.

@ Ashley: We're going to work with a friend of ours who started this organization: www.glocalade.org. Check it out!

@ Lorena: I haven't been in CR since 2003, but I guess I shouldn't expect it to be much different. ;) I AM looking forward to the great weather.
