See? No black accessories! I CAN do this. Also, I revisited this shirt and pencil skirt combo; I think I've figured out what kept me from loving the look the first time.
First, I think the belt does a lot for this look, kind of pulling together the shirt and the skirt. This belt is part of my birthday haul. It's crazy wide and I'm kind of scared by the width of it, but I think it's working here. Am I right? I feel like the light color of the canvas kind of blends here, making it feel less like a corset and more like a proper belt.
Anyway, the shirt still feels a bit too baggy, but it's growing on me, and it's supremely comfortable. Even so, one of my students asked if this was a man's shirt, perhaps because I have worn men's dress shirts to work before.
I guess the whole outfit does look borrowed from the boys, but I like that. Besides, all the accessories made it decidedly more feminine.
Y'all. The day I've had. All I can say is thank God that we only have three teaching days left (followed by three days of exams and two of frantic cleaning). For now, I've got some work to do, and I think I need ice cream.
