Monday was our last day in Boston and it rained all day. I was really glad I'd worn these jeans on the trip down because dresses weren't going to cut it on such a rainy day. I'll be honest, though: I felt sooo uncomfortable in this outfit because A) I don't usually wear jeans and B) when I do, I don't usually wear them with such fitted tops.

I still don't really know how I feel about the whole look, but I do know how I feel about Mike's Pastry: Yum! (BTW, I just found out you can order their cannoli ONLINE?!)

All remixed except skirt

Today I decided it was time for me to wear the skirt I made (using this tutorial) out in public. I was a little nervous to do this because I'm basically prancing around in a curtain in this. Also, the hem is uneven and the pockets are poorly made. But why am I going to make myself a little skirt and then never wear it? Yeah, that's what I thought.

I embraced all the color in the skirt by wearing it with an orange top, green earrings, and blue suede shoes. Yeah, it's a whole lot of color, but I think it turned out pretty well. This from a girl whose love of neutrals is deep....
Anyway, I'm keeping this short for now, since I didn't sleep so well last night and it's been a long, busy day.
Our vacation to Turkey is coming up in mere DAYS, y'all! I'm so excited!

  3. well, I understand your feelings about outfit #1 because when you don't feel like yourself in a certain outfit, it doesn't matter how many people tell you you look pretty in it. HOWEVER, you look so pretty in it! I guess this is one of my favorites so far :D

    beijo!

  4. I think you look fantastic in the jeans outfit. I understand completely how you can feel uncomfortable in it because I'm the same way - but you do look great! The scarf is a great touch.

Your skirt came out really well, in my opinion! I can't see the pockets or the uneven hem so from here, it's awesome. It's a great print and I love how you pulled out all the colors with the shoes and accessories.

    You look gorgeous!

  7. @ Chantele: Cannoli are Italian pastries of deliciousness: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cannoli. Basically it's a tube of flaky dough filled with cream.

I'm pretty satisfied with the way the skirt turned out, uneven hem or not, simply because it was my first real sewing project. I was just afraid to wear it for the same reason. Hahaha

And thanks for the love on the jeans outfit. I'm still not totally comfortable with it, but it's good to know I can still fake my comfort with a smile. ;)

  8. I think your skirt came out cute! DOn't be so hard on yourself! =)
I feel the same about pants, I used to wear them before, of course now I don't wear them also as part of my beliefs but I don't like the way they fit on me, I like my legs and jeans are not flattering on my squared shape.
