This skirt. I hate it. I love it. It's a nice enough skirt, but the fit makes me crazy when I have to do a lot of sitting and standing. It fits in the hips, but it's big in the waist, so things shift around when I move a lot. Things I didn't have to think about when I was teaching....
Anyway, I wore this teal cami underneath for a pop of color (and for the sake of modesty) and then went with my crazy red printed shoes. Red and teal/turquoise is a color combination that I absolutely love - it's bold but classic. Besides, it plays nicely with my mixed neutrals.
I wore this little headband because I got it for our trip to Turkey. I figured there's nothing like a headband to spice up travel hair. Y'all know what I'm talking about, right? That crazy fly away look that you have going on after a day of wandering the city or flying on planes? Or am I the only one with that issue? Before I take things on the road with me, I like to test them out. This headband works pretty well: it's comfy, it's easy to wear, and it's just a little bit of flash.
Y'all, we leave on THURSDAY MORNING! I feel like we've been planning our trip to Istanbul for so long that I almost can't believe that we're going. And I'm packing in a backpack and a purse. For a two week vacation, y'all. I managed to convince B. that it was a good idea to travel with nothing but carry-ons, so we're doing it. Believe that there's a packing post in the future.

I can't wait for the travel outfits ;) I like how even though it's a basic outfit it looks put-together!
ReplyDeleteOkay, I need to know how people do this. How can you pack so little for so long? I have to wash every single item after wearing it only one time, so it seems impossible for me to pack in such a way that I can remix anything, since washers/dryers aren't really accessible when traveling. Am I doing something wrong?
ReplyDeleteAnyway - I love this outfit! I understand the love/hate relationship with some skirts. I do love the red/teal combo! So pretty!
Cool! Take lots of pictures okay?
ReplyDeleteI also hate when skirts are too big on the waist, but usually for me they fit fine at the hips but they are too small on the waist. I have one skirt I recently wore and it's definitely goin to go, it is too big on the waist and it moves all around. I must see what you pack!
I love this outfit!! You look so great in these pencil skirt combos!!
ReplyDeleteAnd hey - you better take lots and lots of pics for me!!!! I have always wanted to check out Turkey, Antioch in particular, but Istanbul would be super awesome also!!
I love pencil skirts like yours -- on other people. on myself, not so much, and I think it's because of the same reasons you gave for when you "hate" the skirt.
ReplyDeleteI didn't know you were traveling! are there gonna be pictures of Turkey in your blog? I hope so, now you got me curious about it :D
um beijo!
@ Melissa - all your packing questions will be answered soon. It probably helps that I'm a little dirty and don't wash things every time. ;)
ReplyDeleteAnd yes, there will be pictures of Turkey. I'm so excited!
