I swear it's still spring.
White pleated blouse: Target (remixed)
Khaki capris: New York & Co.
Khaki swing jacket: New York & Co. (remixed)
Yellow and white infinity scarf: J Crew
Red peep toe wedges: ? gift from my parents (remixed)
Wooden bracelets: gift from my mom (remixed)
Silver hoops: gift from my mom
I think it's hilarious that I'm trying to keep my face all serious while Kiku jumps on my leg. It's like I'm not even paying attention to her.
Except, look how cute we are when I DO pay attention to her.
Aww! Too cute!
Anyway, I felt a bit uncomfortable all day for three main reasons.
1. It's a suit, a casual suit, but a suit nevertheless
2. Pants.
3. Worse than pants, capris.
I feel a little off with the proportions now that I look at the pictures, but I do like the crisp color palette. There's something about white and khaki that looks so fresh. And then it was totally okay to throw on the bright red shoes and the yellow scarf, because, hey, I'm not wearing any color anywhere else.
And this scarf? Can you tell I'm in love? I tried this with a different scarf this morning, but I like this one better with the red shoes.
Anyway, this outfit is not really weather appropriate, but I refuse to give in. In fact, I wrote a little letter to spring. It goes like this:
Dear Spring,
Why do you come and then leave, come and leave, come and leave? You're breakin' my heart. Please come to stay. I love you; I miss you.
Come back.
Love,
Frances
More scarf love....
Oh, and could I just have a moment to gush like a star-struck teenager?
Check out academichic today. They linked to this post and I'm pretty flattered. And flabbergasted.

Oncce upon a time I thought that shoes should be two colors: brown or black. That way they can go with everything right? And if they really don't go with everything then I just pull out the silver shoes. They fix everything. Life was boring. I mostly hated my shoes and struggled with "matching" them to my outfit. Then one day my mind exloded with the news that my shoes can not only be a bright color but they can also be a random color that "goes" with what I'm wearing. Thank you for helping the fashion illiterate. I'll be shoe shopping online and sadly crying at the zappos website when I realize that none of the shoes I like come in wide.
ReplyDeleteGirl, welcome to the world of fun shoes. I don't have anything against black or brown shoes, but I currently don't have either a pair of black or brown pumps in my shoe collection. That's mostly because I wore them to death and finally had to make B. throw away my bedraggled black pumps the last time I wore them.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, I'm on the look out, but I haven't gone barefoot even with these staples missing from my collection. (Full disclosure: I still have two pairs of black flats)
I love the way you tied the scarf around your neck in this post and another one recently with a dress. I was going to try and use it as inspiration until I realized the dress I wanted to wear doesn't fit right. Booo. Now, maybe I can try this look out with a cute jacket. Love the blog.
ReplyDelete@Destrehan's Daughter: Thanks! This is an infinity scarf, which makes it easy to wear this way, but I've had success tying regular long scarves as cowls with a little creative twisting. Hope it works!
