Spring got my letter and today was in the upper 70s (compared to the low 60s of yesterday), so I figured I should jump on it and wear some springy stuff.

Can you believe I've had this skirt for about two years and this is the first time I've worn it? I'm disappointed in myself, too.

The color is fantastic, as is the shape, and it has pockets. Why, then has it been languishing in my closet? Well, there's this: the lining makes it feel like it fits funny, even though it doesn't (I think I might be taking scissors to it in the near future). Also, the pockets hit me at a place that makes a tucked in shirt mandatory, and I've only recently fallen in love with tucking in my shirts. I don't know why it took me so long, but it did.

Anyway, I'm glad I pulled this skirt out of hiding.
Also out of hiding:

these shoes. I haven't worn them in about a year, though I'm not sure why. But they're cute with that lacing and the bows. I got them for $11 on clearance and they're a size 5 1/2 which makes me feel smugly proud about how tiny my feet are. I'm a weirdo.

This cardi, on the other hand, is one of those pieces that I wear year-round. I've had it for ages, and it's one of my summer cardigans. Yes, I wear cardigans all summer long. Why? Because people in the US are way too enamored of their air conditioning and they like to make me freeze in public spaces in the summer. It's been with me on countless travels - Guatemala, Vietnam, Puerto Rico, LA - and I think it will continue to serve me well until the day it falls apart and I weep bitter tears.

Yes, I'm THAT attached.

I have to say, I'm pretty enamored of this outfit, and I just realized that might be because it's basically the inverse of this outfit, which I also loved.
It's a good thing that I was so digging my outfit today, because I had the kind of day at work that ends with me ranting to B. about how terrible the U.S. public school system is while preparing dinner before I collapse in a sobbing mess into his arms, counting the days until the summer (and unemployment), and complaining about the way he folds my unders when he does laundry (it was a serious issue, I swear).
*sigh*
At least tomorrow's Friday.
